UBA Liberia Opens its Headquarters

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Liberia Limited opened its doors to the general public on the 22nd of April 2009. The event was quietly with interaction with press men who interacted with staff as well as gathered for a press conference with the Managing Director/CEO of the bank, Mr. Ebele Edwin Ogbue.

The opening of the headquarters makes it UBA’s third branch in the country since obtaining its banking license from the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) in July 2008. UBA Liberia, which is a subsidiary of UBA Plc in Nigeria, was incorporated as a private limited liability company in October 10, 2006. With the formal launch of its first branch in Bushrod Island, the MD/CEO promised quality and professional services as well as a robust roll-out of branches throughout the country, targeting a branch in key counties by the end of 2011. Already the bank’s branches in Nimba and Maryland Counties are nearing completion.

So far, the Bank seems on course in achieving this commendable objective. Already the Bank is continuing its list of achievements: the first foreign-owned and Nigerian bank to enter the country, the first bank to have a zero opening account service, the first bank to institute a ‘bank-to-the-people’ marketing exercise, the second bank to issue VISA and ATMs and before the end of the second quarter, it will land the enviable position of being the only bank to have ATMs for both the local dollar and the United States dollar- both medium of exchange.

With the opening of its head office at Broad Street, the center most part of the business metropolis, the bank is ready to serve its customers and the general public as part of its Vision ‘to be the undisputed leading and dominant financial services institution in Africa’.

UBA…..Africa’s Global Bank.
